Number 24 - Sharon Haddock

February 10th, 2008 - Comments Off

Sharon Haddock

Number 24 is Sharon Haddock.  Among other things, Sharon is a Circus Space graduate, has worked with The Gandini Juggling Project and starred in the best club swinging DVD I’ve ever watched!

Sharon’s another juggler that really inspired me back in the mid-late 90’s when I was just finding my feet on the UK juggling social scene.  I especially remember her from the 1996(ish) Birmingham Circus convention, and the Bristol convention of roughly the same year.

Number 23 - Eric Bagai

January 7th, 2008 - Comments Off

Eric used to be the head honcho for the product reviews section of the IJA JUGGLE magazine, and he was kind enough to commission me to write a couple of reviews for him (and was very understanding when I missed the deadline by miles!)

I don’t think he performs much any more, and the business cards he sent me appear to date from the turn of the century - and describe him as an “occasional juggler”

Update:
I just noticed an email from Eric which I hadn’t seen prior to receiving the cards in the post.  It explains a bit more about the cards, and I hope he doesn’t mind me reproducing part of it here!

What I'll do is send you my really cool (like Hummel figurines and Avon collectable bottles) Professional
Street Performer card. Tomorow. First thing. Really. It's like a baseball or football player card, but
for/of juggly people -- as if they were significant or important or paid millions of dollars/pounds/rupees,
which of course they are, but it's a secret. I'll also sign it, which will probably lower its collectability
value, but such is fame. WTF, I'll send you two of them.

Thanks Eric! :-)

My good friend Ewan bumped into these guys at a festival in Ireland, and got them to sign their promo material for me. I don’t really know a lot about them but apparently they were thoroughly nice people!

Number 21 - Luke and Pola (again!)

I was originally trying to avoid including people more than once, but when Luke and Pola sent me a postcard from a cruise ship docked in Buenos Aires, I couldn’t really *not* put it up!

December 2007 - a progress report

December 29th, 2007 - Comments Off

As you will have noticed, we’re nearing the end of 2007 and I’ve only got 20 jugglers represented on this site.  Some have asked why this is, why I’ve stopped actively promoting it left right and centre.

I recently posted a response to this on rec.juggling and reading it through now, I don’t have much more to add to it.  I think it pretty much sums it all up!

However, that said, I do intend to keep this site going, and to keep the collection increasing steadily.

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been given another couple of signed postcards (One of which is even filled out like a postcard!) and I’ll be putting them up in the new year.

Thanks to everyone who contributed in 2007, and thankyou in advance to everyone who contributes in 2008!

Happy new year everyone!

Juggler Number 19 - Terry and Kaye Kimpling

July 20th, 2007 - Comments Off

I’ve received the nineteenth signed promotional photograph of a juggler!

Terry and Kaye Kimpling

Terry and Kaye have just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, congratulations to both of you!

They have been juggling together for 21 years, and have traveled the world in pursuit of performance skills.  Performing across the US, their “Still having a Ball” show is very popular with schools, library reading programs and festivals.  For more information, see http://wejuggle2.com

Terry and Kaye were the very first jugglers to offer a photo for this project back in February - although they wanted to wait until they had passed their 40th anniversary before sending me anything.  Thanks for taking part guys!

I’ve received the eighteenth signed promotional photograph of a juggler!

Jonathan the Jester should surely win some sort of prize for sending me 4 photos of himself! I’m particularly pleased with what Jonathan sent me, they give an interesting insight into how Jonathans marketing has evolved over his career. From a photographic point of view, I think the second one (top right) is probably my favourite.

More information, and contact info for Jonathan can be found at his websites:

Juggler Number 17 - Matt Hall

May 28th, 2007 - Comments Off

I’ve received the seventeenth signed promotional photograph of a juggler!

Matt Hall

Strictly speaking, this isn’t a promo photo -Matt was featured in the IJAs JUGGLE magazine, made it onto the cover, and very kindly sent me a signed copy!

I met Matt at the BJC in 2006, where he compered the public show, hosted and performed in Renegade shows, ran numerous workshops and otherwise just got far more involved in the convention than most invited guests ever! If you’re organising a convention, and you haven’t already invited Matt - you’re really missing out on a whirlwind of fun, and if you’re not careful - he’ll even get stuck in to the washing up.

Thanks for sending me the mag Matt, I must say I was quite surprised to find that I get a mention in the magazine as well - It seems that Todd Strong finally got around to writing up some hat tricks for the teach in session, and credited me :-)

If you want to see more of Matt, or to contact him, there are videos, photos and contact details on his website.

Juggler Number 16 - Stuart J. Hill

May 11th, 2007 - Comments Off

I’ve received the sixteenth signed promotional photograph of a juggler!

Stuart J. Hill

You may have noticed that Stuart looks a little familiar. Well, yes. He’s half of The Curious Eyebrows (see Juggler number 13) - I guess that makes him a “Curious Eyebrow”.

I think that following the same reasoning as behind the recent photo of Luke Burrage, I can probably, just about, get away with counting Stuart as a juggler in his own right. All the lovely stuff I said about The Curious Eyebrows also goes for Stuart as well! :-)
